Retracting the claws … Holding up the ladder
In keeping with her women unity and women empowerment message and purpose, the author of
the famous Diary for Fabulous You and editor-in-chief of Fabulous Woman magazine has written a
full length book titled “Sisterhood Charter” to explore the dynamics and causes of the often prickly
relationships between women while celebrating behaviours that enhance ethical womanhood . This
first book by the award-winning South African businesswoman and author, Pontsho Manzi, is a
serious attempt at unravelling the problems that bedevil the relationships between women which
do a disservice to women advancement and offers suggestions on what women can do to eliminate
this scourge.
In writing Sisterhood Charter, Pontsho Manzi draws on experiences gained from years of dealing
with many women on issues that seemingly serve to derail the cause of women the world over. As
an astute and diligent observer of the lives, experiences and commonalities in the journeys of
women she has met, the need to write the book became an apparent and consuming desire until it
practically birthed itself in the book’s pages. Pontsho believes that God created sisterhood to be a
concept that is premised on women who love, support, uplift, encourage, empower, motivate and
celebrate one another.
Sisterhood Charter is about fostering a spirit of sisterhood and a sense of common purpose amongst
women, and the need for each woman to deliberately choose to be a sister’s keeper in all situations,
while holding themselves accountable for their own behaviour. If a woman is comfortable with who
she is, whose she is and her unique purpose, the temptation to hurt or compete with another
person, let alone another woman, becomes a futile exploit. Women are invited to locate themselves
in each of the chapters of the book and purpose in their hearts to change undesirable behaviours or
take their virtuous behaviour up a notch towards becoming a true sister to other women.Sisterhood Charter Book will be launched on the 31 st March 2016 in celebration of Internation al
Women Day. The book will be available in book shops nationwide after the launch. It is also available
on Amazon as an eBook and more online channels will be made available in due course. It starts with
the simple declaration that “I am my Sister’s Keeper” and adopting the behavioural changes that are
suggested in the book to avoid catfights amongst women and instead foster a spirit of mutual
support and choosing to blaze a trail for other women to follow. It is about getting in a sphere of
influence/control and keeping the door open for other to follow or holding up the ladder in support
of other worthy women as they ascend to greater heights in the business, academic or corporate
worlds. Sisterhood Charter is a must read for women from all walks of life.
