Evening of German Festivities at Randpark

Posted October 20, 2016 by myjoburg in Joburg-West

Randpark Golf Club recently held their annual Oktoberfest. Visitors and members donned their lederhosen and dirndls to take part in the German Festivities.
The celebration got underway with the toasting of Weis beer which was available on tap, a variety of other beer and drinks were also available for the guests to enjoy. A menu was specially prepared for the occasion which included a variety of German dishes. These included: Grilled Eisbein and Sauerkraut; Bratwurst und Zwiebel; Frikkdellen, Hähnchenschnitzel and Apfelstudel. The convenience of a buffet area was set up for guests to ensure there were no waiting times in receiving dinner.
Live instrumental music was played by ‘Velvet Sounds Oopah Band’ while children and adults danced on the dance floor with a competition being held for the best dancers of the night. Children also played on the jumping castle set up outside, the evening was a great time for fellow golfers to introduce their team mates to their families.

Oktoberfest although a Bavarian tradition has become more popular throughout the world. It has become a great way for people to meet and have a wonderful time. When it comes to the ladies and their dirndls, according to tradition, a bow tied on the left of the dirndl apron indicates the wearer is single; on the right indicates the lady is already taken or married; tied at the back – either the lady is a widow or a waitress.
Trumpet sounds, fun and laughter filled the air at Randpark Golf Club. Juliette Fish, Marketing Manager of Randpark said, “A sincere thanks to everyone who made this event such a success”
