Eggs aren’t just delicious. They’re also extremely nutritious, an excellent source of protein and provide essential nutrients. They’re outstanding value for money when one considers the powerhouse of nutrition to be derived out of one single egg compared with other protein foods. This is exactly the message that employees from Elanco Animal Health South Africa delivered to the residents of Zandspruit on Thursday 1 October in celebration of their 2015 Global Day of Service.

Lynne Hobson-Jones, Market Access Manager of Elanco South Africa says, “Our goal was to educate the residents of Zandspruit on how nutritious and important eggs are to their daily diets and to demonstrate several convenient and affordable ways of cooking egg dishes. We wanted to dispel the many myths about eating eggs, and especially the perception that they are expensive. When one compares the price of other protein sources, eggs come out tops in terms of cost versus nutrition. We had great feedback and interaction from the residents and we are especially grateful for the generous egg donation from Top-Lay Egg Co-operative for making this year’s Global Day of Service a great success. Residents were able to go home with a batch of fresh eggs to try out their newly learned egg recipes and treat their families to a wholesome meal,” adds Lynne.
